Steps in the Consular Processing Procedure
After you have communicated with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), you will likely have a visa interview set up at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country to begin the process. The actual consular processing will only begin once the USCIS has approved the USCIS and visa numbers are actually available. In order to begin the process, you should follow these steps:

- Allow USCIS to consider your petition and wait for notification
- Get notification from National Visa Center regarding your appointment
- Attend your interview with the consular office
- Bring unopened "Visa Packet" with you to U.S. and give to the Customs and Border Protection officer
